Hey, it's the land of Cockatoos

The Galah

I think the galah, not the emu, should be their national bird, because it is absolutely everywhere.

You can see the galah at absolutely every turn here in our suburb of Sydney. They have a characteristic chirp that you instantly recognize.

There are a lot that live in the park near our house.

Sulpher Crested Cockatoo

You can see them around here too, but more often you can hear them... They are extremely loud!

The Corella.

I don't see these guys in the city too much. If I ever buy a Toyota Corolla, I will change the spelling so it says Corella. (Yes, I have given it too much thought.)

Black Cockatoo

There are many types of black cockatoos. This is a red-tailed black cockatoo. You can often hear them up in the mountains. I don't see them very often, but I hear them a lot. They have a much more pleasant call than the sulpher crested cocky!

Go to the PARROT page, a web page I was hired to develop, full of parrots of all types!
