It ain't the TTC folks... and that can be a good thing.

Here is the train station that we get off and on at when we want to go places... I guess I have just been spoiled by the TTC. The service here is not too great. You have to be careful which train you get on, because not all trains stop at all stops.

In addition, the service here is not as regular as it is in Toronto. The trains come much less frequently. However, the trains are scheduled. When they say the train is going to stop at a certain time, there is about a 95% chance that it will arrive at that time. That is good service. I am very impressed with the scheduled service. You can hang out at home and then go to the train station in time to catch it rather than standing around the train station - now that I like.

However, it is service that you pay BIG BUCKS for. It costs a fortune to take the train here. A ride from Kingswood to Penrith (one stop, from our place to the next stop) costs $1.40 each way! The farther you go, the more you pay. A trip into the city might cost as much as $10 - one way. You are allowed to take your bike on the train with you (if you pay an extra childs fare-half price)

Overall, I'm not too thrilled with the transit system here, and that is why I bought a car. A 1978 Ford Escort. And what a high performance machine it is.
