We spent a few days in Melbourne. Very nice. Very scenic. A little cooler than Cairns. I don't have much to say about it, but I have a few pictures to show you.
These are "The 12 Apostles" located on the Great Ocean Road, outside of Melbourne. I think my father was slightly disappointed because they didn't look like the 12 apostles. I was quite impressed. It looks like the beach they filmed the final scene of "Planet of the Apes" where Charlton Heston was riding down the beach and saw the statue of liberty half-buried in the sand. I was almost expecting to see the same thing. Either that or a huge statue of Paul Hogan half-buried in the sand.

In addition, some of the tallest trees in the world are located here. Here are some mountain ash eucalyptus trees.
Do you see that little square on the road? That is a car! Just to give you an idea how tall these trees are. The tallest tree in the world ever recorded was 435 feet high Mountain Ash... This is the same height as a 40 story office building to give you some sense of perspective.
This figure of 435 feet was recorded by the guy who cut it down!
We saw this little echidna walking along the road. He was moving pretty slow. When I approached he walked into a bush and rolled up into a ball. I thought I had disturbed him enough and went on my way.
